Major renovation of a barn in Luxembourg
Major renovation of a barn and creation of housing – Historic site in Luxembourg
In Luxembourg, in a village steeped in history, PGR Habitat is supporting a major renovation project of a barn adjoining two existing houses, with a view to creating four residential units with a garage and shared heating.
This project, situated in a green and preserved setting, required an in-depth study phase, due to the constraints linked to the existing structure, as well as the partial protection of the building (façade and building envelope). The design was thus conceived to preserve the authenticity of the site whilst allowing for an ambitious rehabilitation.
The works involve a complete reconstruction of the floors and roof, with only the front and rear façades being retained. The building site presents a high level of complexity, as much in terms of partial demolition, phasing and stability, as in the choice of technical and energy solutions adapted to an older building.
PGR Habitat is managing the entire operation, from the initial study to completion, integrating a bespoke approach to reconcile heritage, performance and quality of life in an exceptional natural and historical environment.
